Hermann David Salomon Corrodi (Italian, 1844-1905) oil on canvas painting Stormy Seas. Signed and inscribed: H. Corrodi. Roma, at the lower left. Provenance: Christie`s, New York, April 8, 2008, lot 122. Hermann Corrodi was a celebrated Italian painter known for his paintings of both landscapes and orientalist themes. He lived and worked in Rome and received many commissions, including historical paintings for the British royal family. Some of his best-known paintings are works depicting coasts and seascapes.
