Tempera on wooden Russian Orthodox icon depicting Our Lady of Hodegetria. Decorated with gilding, silvering, inlays. This type of icon originates from Byzantium. Jesus’s right hand is raised in a sign of blessing, and his left hand is holding a folded scroll. Mary’s right hand reverently points to the child. In the upper part of the icon, Christ is depicted seated on the throne surrounded by angels. Late 19th – early 20th cc.
