Lot was removed from auction
Of a slightly irregular oval form with pointed tips. Such shields were used by the tribe of cattle breeders Maasai in wars, hunting, or ritual purposes. The wooden body is covered with buffalo skin which is decorated with white, black, ocher, and red geometric patterns.
Dimensions: 38 x 25 x 5 in., (96.5 x 63.5 x 13 cm.)
Condition: Good, with expected signs of use
