This vintage Soviet tea set includes four gilt silver teaspoons and a tea strainer decorated with floral niello motifs. Hallmarks: the mark of the Leningrad Assay Inspectorate, five-pointed star with hammer and sickle, 875 silver standard for 84 zolotniks, the mark of the Kubachi Artistic Combine and other Russian hallmarks. Kubachi is a locality or a town in Russia, in the area called the Republic of Dagestan. The style and methods go back to the 10th century when Kubachi was the center for silversmiths and silver-inlaid weapons. Even with many hardships through the centuries, the town is holding on to their 1000-year old traditions and the older silversmiths have been teaching the next generations all along.
