This finely cast bronze bust of a Spanish conquistador depicts a Spanish man, possibly Vasco Nunez de Balboa (1475-1519), wearing infantry armor decorated with carved motifs of Catholic Monarchs of Spain, Queen Isabella I, and the national motto of Spain in Latin "Plus ultra" – "Further beyond". The two castles representing "Las dos Castillas, " Castilla-La Mancha and Castilla-Leon.
