An antique American Knights of Pythias ceremonial sword with a single-edged blade decorated with etched floral motifs, F.C.B. decorations, and owner’s name "Joseph Cherest". Brass gilded hilt with lion-shaped pommel, handle is wrapped with ray skin and wound with twisted wire. Manufactured by M. C. Lilley and Co., Columbus, Ohio, etched on ricasso. Nickel-plated scabbard decorated with gilded Roman soldier figurine, military paraphernalia in relief, and various decorative elements. Stamped number "87" on ricasso and "96" on scabbard. Circa late 19th century.
