Lot 189:
French bronze and marble mantel clock manufactured by Honore Pons. The sculpture depicts Agamemnon, a Greek hero of the Trojan war, from Homer’s Iliad. The clock’s dial is mounted on the massive Sienna marble plinth with paw feet and a frieze of applied acanthus scrolls. The dial surround is modeled as an acanthus wreath, an allegory for victory. The dial is silvered bronze with an engine-turned center and beautiful, original-blued steel hands. Circa 1830.

Overall good condition. Clockwork is not tested. Nothing is missing from the extended hand of Agamemnon.
