Lot 160:
Of a characteristic form is a Syrian saif sword with a curved blade with two fillers on each side, the forte is decorated with silver inlay Arabic inscriptions. The crossguard is made of steel with straight quillons with flattened ball terminals. The hilt is wooden, steel-mounts, and the pommel is of brass. The scabbard is made of two wooden scales covered in black wire-stitched leather. The fittings are od steel with two loose suspension rings. The chapel is made os engraved brass.Ca. 1850.
Dimensions: L: 37 5/8 in., (95.5. cm.)
Condition: Very good overall with scabbard showing minor signs of wear.
