Attributed to Wassily Kandinsky (Russian, French, 1866 – 1944), mixed media on paper painting depicting an abstract composition. Signed and dated on the lower left: ‘Kandinsky, 1919.’Wassily Vassilyevich Kandinsky was a Russian and French artist and theorist, one of the pioneers of abstraction in western art. After successful avant-garde exhibitions, he founded the influential Munich group Der Blaue Reiter – The Blue Rider, 1911 – 14, and began completely abstract painting. Taught at the Bauhaus school of art and architecture from 1922 until the Nazis closed it in 1933.

Condition: Good, no apparent signs of restoration.
