Fine Ottoman dagger (kard), circa 1800. With a gently tapering wootz steel blade. The hilt is composed of two faceted agate scales with an engraved gilt-brass rib in between. The hilt is set with red corals. The scabbard is constructed of two wooden scales covered in dark red velvet. The fittings are made of silver with a beaded silver throat.
L: 17 1/2 in., (44 cm.)
Condition: The blade appears to be in good condition. The edge could have been re-sharpened in the past. The hilt is tight. The silver scabbard fittings show small dents. Overall condition is good considering the age and medium.
