Birmingham, 1911 A fine early 20th-century English silver sailing trophy tankard. On three furry ball & claw feet, the handle decorated with a trailing band of oak leaves, the paneled cover surmounted by a finial modeled as St.George slaying the dragon, the spout chased with acanthus leaf flanked by oak & acorn sprays, a band of laurel around the base, one side with a disc chased with a galleon above the legend "The Sovereign of the Seas, 1637" , inscribed below "International Cup First European International Regatta 1911, Patron King George V" 60 oz. Various hallmarks: Elkington & Co, Birmingham anchor, London lion mark. Weight: 65.8 oz., (1865 g.)
