Russian Orthodox icon of Christ Pantocrator overlaid with a chased and repousse silver-gilt riza, the halo decorated in polychrome cloisonne enamel.

Hallmarks: maker’s mark ‘SG’ in Cyrillic, 84 Russian silver standard, and a kokoshnik mark.

Footnote: Galkin Semyon Grigorievich was the owner of a silverware workshop. In 1892, the company was called “The Trading House of S.G. Galkin and Co." The silver factory took part in the All-Russian Art and Industrial Exhibition of 1896 in Nizhny Novgorod, where it received a medal. Later, Galkin founded a trading house with his brother in 1912 under the name "GALKINY, Semyon and Pyotr Grigorievich, Brothers." The main works are icon oklads made of 84 sterling silver and enamel, inlaid with precious stones.
