Russian Orthodox icon of Christ Pantocrator, the Lord Almighty, or Savior Jesus Christ hand-painted in egg tempera and gesso on wood panel. Features a gilt silver oklad, the vestments are chased and repousse, the halo is decorated in polychrome cloisonne enamel, the old Church Slavonic letterings on sides are made in blue champleve enamel. The oklad is struck with the Cyrillic maker’s mark "SG, " 84 Imperial silver standard, and a kokoshnik mark.
Footnote: Galkin Semyon Grigorievich was an owner of a silverware workshop. In 1892, the company was called “The trading House of S.G. Galkin and Co." The silver factory took part in the All-Russian Art and Industrial Exhibition of 1896 in Nizhny Novgorod, where it received a medal. Later Galkin founded a trading house with his brother, known in 1912 under the name "GALKINY, Semyon and Pyotr Grigorievich, Brothers." The main works are icon oklads made of 84 sterling silver and enamel, inlaid with precious stones.

Condition: Very good, the enamel is well preserved. Minor signs of wear and age as expected.
