AUCTION 43: ANTIQUE ARMS AND ARMOR
Lot 202:
Japanese Police dress sword with a polished shagreen (sharkskin) handle. The backstrap on this sword is decorated with a cherry blossom which identifies the sword as a police. The tsuka/handle is made of polished ray skin. There is no yakiba (acid-etched temper line) on this type of sword. The scabbard is metal with its original finish partially lost.
L: 29 5/8 in., (75.3 cm.)
Condition: Complete but with original scabbard (slightly rusted).
