This ‘kindjal’ dagger is adorned with silver damascene across the scabbard and hilt, as well as floral silver inlay at the forte of the blade and geometric silver inlay along the rest of its length. The central section of the scabbard is overlaid with red leather which has aged but is still present. The scabbard is tipped with an oblong diamond shaped finial.
Persia, 19th century.
L: 25.25 in. (64.14 cm.);
Condition: The blade is very lightly pitted. The edges toward the center of the blade have some pitting. The silver inlay on steel mounts is well preserved. The scabbard leather has minor losses.
