A French cavalry sabre of the early 19th century with a wide-fullered Damascus blade. The forte of the blade was blued, but the finish has mostly darkened now. Within the blued section are gilded engravings with floral and military motifs. The guard is of a single-bar design and is made of polished brass. The handle is wood wrapped in a brass chain.

L: 39 in. (99.06 cm.);

Condition: Very good overall. The scabbard and hilt have very little wear, and the blade is quite clean of rust. The original blued finish on the forte of the blade is worn and appears now as a slightly darker section. Some of the gilding has smudged slightly.
