AUCTION 45: ANTIQUE ARMS AND ARMOR
Lot 296:
A decorative silver tray which has been modeled in repoussé after the Diego Velázquez painting ‘La Rendición de Breda’ known in English as ‘The Surrender of Breda’. The center of the tray is framed by a ring of detailed foliate design in relief, at bottom center being the etched title of the scene. The back is affixed with two rings and a length of twine to hang the tray on a wall.
17 x 23 in., (43.2 x 58.4 cm.)
Condition: Very good overall. Some very minor bends and dents throughout. Traces of the original gilding remain across most of the raised surfaces. Silver shines brightly.
