A Venetian chased iron powder flask decorated in relief with well executed mythological scenes, including winged creatures surrounding a fruit tree, and also foliate decoration throughout. The piece is quite small, indicating either that this is a purely decorative object or that it was meant especially for use with a small pistol belonging to a wealthy gentleman of the era.
Venice — CA. 16th-17th Century
L: 3 1/2 in., (8.9 cm.)
Condition: Very good overall with expected signs of wear due to age. Some minor oxidation throughout.
