FROM ANTIQUITY TO THE 20TH CENTURY
Lot 73:
An intricately designed three-legged candlestick made from hand-forged iron possibly originating from 18th Century Italy. The holder rests upon a leaf-shaped platform; which can be opened sideways, via the two tonged handles, for housing a single candle. Each handle exhibits a twisted style akin to hand-forged techniques. The stick rests atop a triangular base with a leg at each corner. The legs show carved depictions of mythological creatures with curved legs providing the foundation of the entire piece. All pieces are connected via screws to the stem.
