Late 19th century Russian Orthodox icon with elaborate silver and enamel oklad. The figure of the Saint is hand-painted on a wood panel, the oklad is hand-engraved with detailed patterns, the halo is adorned with cloisonne enamel and set with turquoise cabochons. Comes with a fitted wooden case.
Hallmarks: 84 silver standard, assay mark with Cyrillic initials V.P. under the date 1883, George the Victorious for Moscow, maker’s mark "I.C."
