A French Cuirassier’s chest armor was produced in the town of Klingenthal in Alsace, France. The armor consists of two pieces, the first being a thin metal backplate with attached straps of leather affixed with brass chains and lion roundels, and the second being a thick metal front plate with a raised medial rib, The inside surface of the front plate has various engravings including ‘Manufre de Klingenthal Coulaux frères’ at the bottom of the piece and ‘3T9L No.496’ appearing both at the bottom and at the upper left.

Condition: Very good with a nice patina. Some minor scratching in places.
