AUCTION 50: ANTIQUE MILITARIA, FALL 2024
Lot 233:
A Russian hunting dagger manufactured in the famed metalworking city of Tula in 1857. The blade is wide, curved, and well-balanced, with a wide fuller running down both sides. The guard and handle are primarily of steel with gilding throughout. The clamshell of the guard is chased with a depiction of a stag being attacked by hounds in a forest. Set within a smaller sheath in the scabbard is a utility or eating knife with a simpler but well-crafted bone handle.
Tula, Russia, 1857.
