A Persian khanjar dagger of the Qajar period, beautifully decorated above the hilt with floral patterns in gold damascene. The remainder of the blade has the typical curvature of a khanjar dagger and a raised mid-rib running its length. The hilt and the scabbard are decoratively engraved throughout with geometric and floral patterns and depictions of people and animals.
Qajar Persia, 19th Century.
L: 17 3/4 in., (45.1 cm.)
Condition: The khanjar is in good condition overall, with some expected pitting and fading to the damascene in places, consistent with age and use.
