A Japanese tanto of the Edo period with a fine shagreen grip with a gilt finish and a kashira depicting a beast laying down. The red lacquer scabbard is affixed with brass mounts with a variety of tooled decoration.

L: 12 1/4 in., (31 cm.)

Condition: Good overall. Much wear to gold finish on shagreen. Some scratching to scabbard. Missing Mekugi.
