A LOT OF TWO EASTERN DAGGERS AND A LARGE BRASS PEN HOLDER, 19TH CENTURY

Buyer's premium:

#1 – A Turkish yatagan knife with a decorative brass sheet hilt. The blade is straight and single-edged, engraved on both sides with Arabic script alongside a series of stars within a wavy line.

#2 – An Islamic straight, double-edged dagger with several etched grooves running down the blade on both sides. The I-shaped hilt is a separate bone construct, put together providing the white and brown coloring.

#3 – A Persian (Islamic) bronze qalamdan divit. The qalamdan divit was used by scribes and calligraphers to store their brushes, quill, or reed pen in the long pen box, and dry ink in the square container. This example is decorated all over with floral motifs and Arabic script. The bottom has remnants of adhesive, possibly from a mount.

Provenance: a private collection in Washington, DC.

Condition: Very good, the daggers do not have scabbards.
