Two Javanese kris double-edged daggers:
1 – Kris with a straight blade made of iron, nickel (in pamor), steel, with a separate ganja overlay and pamor, possibly beras wutah ("strewn rice") and adeg ("firmly set"). Brown, wooden hilt of nunggak semi Solo type. Mendak ring of brass sheet, decorated with granulation and cut glass pieces.
Surakarta, Central Java – 19th century.
#2 – Kris with a wavy blade with 3 curves (luk) made of iron, nickel (in pamor), steel, with a separate ganja overlay. There is a pamor udan mas ("golden rain") against the background of another pamor, possibly beras wutah ("strewn rice"). The hilt belongs to nunggak semi Solo type and is made of a scarce and very hard material – fossil bone. Selut ring made of silver decorated filagree of decorated loops overlaying evenly the rings and adorned with raw-cut diamonds (two of the diamonds are missing). Probably made for a figure of significance for combat or ceremonial purposes.

Condition: Very good overall. Expected signs of age. Handle loose on #2 in this lot. Missing sheaths.
