AUCTION 50: ANTIQUE MILITARIA, FALL 2024
Лот 393:
An 18th-century Turkish Yataghan with silver inlay and scabbard. A common weapon among the Janissaries and other soldiers of the Ottoman Empire, the yataghans were small, light swords with no hilt guards and two iconic "wings, " or "ears, " spread out from the pommel to prevent the blade from slipping out of the hand during battle. This example has a horn hilt with smaller "ears, " both characteristics of an Anatolian design.
Ottoman Empire, 18th Century.
L: 22 3/4 in., (58 cm.)
Condition: Good overall. Expected signs of wear. Handle slightly loose. Scabbard leather is completely gone and the wood is chipped in places.
