A large bronze ‘Alam, a type of flagpole or, as in this case, the finial of a flagpole. ‘Alam were often decorated with openwork text such as the names of prophets, caliphs, or Allah.
Islamic World, 18th or 19th century.
Dimensions: H: 20 in., (50.8 cm.)
Condition: Good overall with a nice patina. Some oxidation in places. No apparent signs of damage.
