Tempera on wood Russian Orthodox icon depicting St. Isaac of Dalmatia. Inscribed in Cyrillic upper center. Housed in a wooden frame. Has a gallery label and is numbered ‘5359-2’ on the verso.
Note: Isaac of Dalmatia was a Christian monk and the founder of the Dalmatian Monastery in Constantinople who lived in 4th c. AD. Peter the Great of Russia (reigned 1682–1725), whose birthday fell on Saint Isaac’s feast day, May 30, adopted Isaac as the patron saint of the Romanov dynasty.
