Metal hilt, wood grip with remaining plastic cover, wrapped with twisted brass wire, the "Lion of Judeah" of the Ethiopian royal family’s ancestry on the langet. German blade by A.F.Holler. marked with thermometer (Holler’s registered trademark) and "G.G." (Gesetzlich Geschützt — protected by law, which denotes the copyrighted designs on the blade); the blade is richly engraved with floral motifs, panoply of arms and with writings in Ethiopian. Stitched leather scabbard. The sword dates ca.1895-1910.
