Georgian 1804 pattern naval cutlass by Gill circa 1808-10. Straight, unfullered single edged blade marked on ricasso with the Royal crown and "GR" cipher above a crown, and "10 264", the rip is marked "T. GILL." Steel figure-of-eight hilt, guard is stamped "K.2:10", ribbed grip is covered with leather (cracked on one side). Ref. Thomas Gill, Birmingham, 1774-1826, received a government contract for 3400 cutlasses in 1808.
