A classic example of a lobster-tailed helmet also known as the zischägge, with a rounded skull-piece, sliding bar nasal, cheekpieces and neck guard commonly used by the cavalrymen in Europe in the post-Renaissance period, being derived from the Ottoman Turkish chichak. This specimen is mid. 17th century.
