Brass hilt with a cast simulated wire wrap grip, knuckle guard bears stamped inspection mark “HC.” Single-edged blade with single fuller, stamped on ricasso “U.S. / C.S.L. / 1864” and “Made by / Ames Mfg. Co. / CHICOPEE. / MASS.” Leather scabbard with brass mounts.
