A Turkish pala sword dated 1847. With massive Damascus steel blade with pronounced rib dated 1847. Blade is single-edged with double-edged yalman. The blade is decorated with silver floral motif inlay at forte and gold cartouche on one side. Grip is made of horn decorated with carving depicting animals, birds and floral design. crossguard has two large gold inlay cartouches on both sides and two oval–shaped quillons and connected with hilt steel rib decorated with silver inlay. Scabbard is made of wood wrapped in red velvet with steel throat, chape and one fitting decorated with silver inlay and gold cartouches. The fitting has two loose suspension rings
Dimensions: Overall length: 39 in., 99 cm., blade length: 32 in., 81 1/2 cm.
Condition: Very good overall, scabbard velvet is slightly worn.
