A rare saber presented during the Consulate Period (1799 — 1804) with gilded brass hilt and ebony grip, inscribed on the blade: Le 1er Consul au Citoyen Duchateau Marechat des Logis au 7 Chasseurs pour sa brillante conduite a l’affaire de Modene 23 Prairail am 7. (The 1st Consul to the Citizen Duchateau Marshal of the Logis at 7 Chasseurs for his brilliant conduct in the affair of Modena 23 Prairial an 7.) Leather scabbard with gilt-brass mounts and two loose suspension rings.
