In 1975 a united and victorious Vietnam war began the construction of socialism. Historical events influenced artistic trends, so socialist realism becomes the main direction in painting. Heroic images of soldiers and the working class appear. This painting combines European and traditionally Vietnamese painting techniques. The painting probably depicts an American soldier Larry Chaffin, known from the still picture where he is in a helmet with the inscription "War is hell". In the lower left part is the signature: “L.M. (?) CHAFFIN, 1975”
Dimensions: 28 ½ x 41 ½ in. (72.39 x 105.41 cm.)
Condition: Good with slight scuffs on the colorful surface
