The figurine of a peasant is very naturalistic. He sits on a stump, slightly bent, keen on working on making traditional shoes from bark (bast). The famous Gardner factory was considered the best porcelain enterprise of the Russian Empire. Similar figurines depicting peasant life were very popular in 19th century.
