J. A. Topf & Söhne is a German engineering company that existed in 1878-1996. Initially, the company was engaged in the production of heating systems, as well as brewing and malt equipment. Later he switched to the construction of chimneys, furnaces for burning household waste and the construction of crematoria. During the First World War, produced shells, gun front and other military vehicles. During World War II, the production of aircraft shells and parts for the Luftwaffe was carried out. The company has earned notoriety as the largest of the 12 enterprises designing and building crematoriums for Nazi concentration camps and the death camps during the Holocaust. Along with crematoria, the company built in Auschwitz II a ventilation system for the distribution of poisonous gas.
