In the work on illustrations for Boris Godunov, the artist carefully studied the time and place of action, costumes of that period of history. With the help of the play of light, Favorsky skillfully knew how to convey the psychological state of the characters. Vladimir Favorsky (1886 – 1964) – Russian and Soviet artist, master of woodcuts and book graphics, art critic, stage designer, monumental painter, teacher, and theorist of fine art.
