A bronze grouping depicting "The Wolf and the Crane". The plot is taken from the Aesop’s fable and depicts the moment when the crane helps the wolf to get rid of the bone stuck in its throat. Signed on the pedestal: "J.V. CHEMIN". Footnote: Joseph Victor Chemin (1825-1901) — a successful 19th-century French sculptor who worked primarily with bronze. The main subject of his work was a variety of animals, the figures of which the sculptor made very expressive thanks to a careful study of the details and close attention to the anatomical features.
