Oil on canvas "The snake charmer" painting by M. H. Nathan (British, born in the 19th century). The artist carefully and in great detail depicted exotic fabrics, colored murals, a hookah on a silver tray, a carved Moroccan table, a collection of weapons on the wall. Two men in rich silk robes watch the snake obeying the charmer. The tension is skillfully conveyed in the painting: it seems as if a snake can bite a person who is in dangerously close to it at any moment. The color palette is deep and harmonious. Signed "M.H. Nathan" lower right.
