A pate de verre lidded bowl by Walter Nancy (Almaric Walter 1870-1959). Pate de verre is a technique known in ancient Egypt and again it became extremely popular in France at the end of the 19th century. With this technique, glass is ground into crumbs, mixed with adhesive and pigment, and then placed into a mold. The result is a work with an unusual texture and intense color. On the sides of the bowl there are decorations with relief images of flowers, and also the protruding flower serves as a handle on the lid.
