An exquisite English sterling silver & tortoiseshell inkwell on four silver embossed legs, with pierced silver edging in the form of stems, flowers, and birds. In the center, two angels hold an engraved cartouche: the monogram "NH" surmounted by a crown. On a magnificent field of tortoise-shell, a cut-glass inkwell with a solid silver lid. Hallmarks: WC, head, bull.
