An extremely rare French-made for the Army of Simon Boler dragoon helmet. Constructed of a silver-plated shell with a gilt-bronze hand-hammered crest with an image of Medusa on the front, gilded chinstrap, a dyed horse air plum, and black tail. The original liner is made of stitched leather. The helmet design is largely based on the French dragoon helmet. The front of the helmet features a hammered symbol of bolivia. The helmet is a complex construction and was made to order for some high ranking officer of the bolivar Army. Ca. 1850.
Condition : Good overall, with minor scratches on the shell, some silver-plated finish loss, the leather liner is in original and in good shape, the gilding is almost entirely preserved
