A 4-POCKET OFFICER’S TUNIC W/STALINGRAD CONNECTION OF THE 297 INFANTRY DIVISION IN THE RANK OF COLONEL. IT BELONGED TO ARTHUR WEBER, A LT. COL. W/A ‘STALINGRAD’ COLONEL PROMOTION. HE WAS CHIEF OF STAFF TO GEN.MAJ. MORITZ VON DREBBER (DIVISION COMMANDER). THEY FOUGHT IN STALINGRAD W/ THE 6TH ARMY OF FIELD-MARSHAL PAULUS. THE TUNIC SURVIVED BECAUSE COL. WEBER SENT THIS EXTRA TUNIC AND OTHER BELONGINGS TO HIS WIFE AT THE END OF 1942. JAN.25/1943 P.O.W. Background: The 297th Infantry Division was part of the 6th Army which was destroyed in Stalingrad.
