A lithograph on paper depicting the company of the Palace Grenadiers. St. Petersburg, edition of the Russian Military Chronicle. Drawn on the stone by Smirnov, lithographed by V. Darleng. Adolf Gebens (1819-1888) – portrait master and genre painter. He studied at the Berlin Academy of Arts, then in 1839-1840 in Paris with P. Delaroche. In 1841 he went to Italy, from where he returned in 1842 to Germany, to Danzig. In St. Petersburg he served as a court portrait painter, and wrote genre scenes, mainly of military subjects.
