A watercolor depicting Russian peasant children playing with a wooden toy. Signed "W. A. Beer 1899" lower right. On the back, there is a sheet of paper with information about the painting and the signature of Bevard Springs Williams. Wilhelm Amandus Beer (1837-1907) – a German 19th-century painter. Since 1867, Beer constantly traveled to Russia, being mainly in the Smolensk province, where the artist created many idealized sketches of the daily life of peasants. For the love of Russia received the nickname Russian Bear.
