Original Russian oil on canvas painting depicting two cardinals playing chess in a Roman interior. Signed and dated “A. Rizzoni 1891” (in Cyrillic). Alexander Antonovich Rizzoni (1836 – 1902) – Russian genre artist and portrait painter, academician, professor of the Imperial Academy of Arts.
