Austrian Golden Fleece Order, 1855 – 1868, made of Gold and enamel (w/minor losses) by then prestigious appointed "Court Jeweler Rothe" in its original case with the Fleece in gold embossed on the lid, on the interior of the lid there is the manufacturer (jeweler’s) logo. The case is from 1855 the maker was given the privilege of K&K Goldarbeiter. In 1868 he was given a new status of a K&K Kammerjuwelier. This means his Neffe (nephew name) was not added to the logo at this time as the researchers presume and the case would have been made between 1855 – 1868.Footnote: CF Rothe & Neffe was a jewelry company in Vienna and a former purveyor to the Imperial and Royal Court. It was one of the most important order jewelers in Vienna in the 19th and 20th centuries.Weight: 2.9 oz. (78 g.)
