Sudanese sword with silver mounted hilt, bottom portion of the handle is leather wrapped, metal cross guard, broad double-edged blade with narrow fullers on either side and struck with half-moon symbols imitating the early Germanic markings found on some early broad sword blades often used by Sudanese sword makers. Patina and some pitting to the steel. Traditional-style embossed leather scabbard with silver fittings. Mid to late 19th century.
